BABO Pinot Grigio
Friuli, in the far northeast of Italy, has a justified rep for making the country's best white wines. Justin Bubb explains. “In the growing season, the days are very warm, but the nights are freezing. This allows nice, long ripening and wonderful aromatics for the white wines.”
Pinot Grigio from Friuli generally has more fleshy layers . Justin underscores this by allowing 10 hours of skin contact in the press. Crisp, fresh, compact and bright, awash with pithy citrus flavours, lovely texture and a mouth-watering finish.
Babo wines are made by Australian Justin Bubb (an honorary Italian who has spent the last decade making wine across the country) with the idea of utilising the best fruit possible to produce wines of elegance and purity. They offer exceptional value and are bottled under screwcap. Justin now resides for part of the vear in Tasmania (where he works at Pooley Wines) and part of the year in Tuscany.
