Chard Farm The Tiger Pinot Noir
Generally, Central Otago wines are complex , interesting, textural and elegant, that shows good fruit/acid balance and genuine flavour length. Fortunately, Central Otago blessed with some of the best cool climate grapes to be found anywhere. The grapes are always very clean and display vivid and expressive flavours. The natural cool climate acid have in the juice keeps the flavours pure and bright. The Tiger Pinot Noir is a single vineyard wine made from grapes grown in our Tiger vineyard in the low-burn sub-region. The vineyard is on sloping land up off the valley floor. This elevated cooler position allows the vineyard to ripen slowly, build layers of flavour and soft silky tannins. The bouquet offers earthy notes of dried herbs and red berries mixed with a sweet floral and spicy perfume. The palate builds with nice layers of silky tannin which give an smooth mouth feel, while a lick of sour cherry keeps everything in check and some nice focus on the finish. The Tiger is always quite shy and reticent in its youth and after 4- 5 years in bottle it really blossoms and expresses itself.
