It opens with intense aromas of black cherry, ripe strawberry, liquorice, earth, and warm spice, with a subtle herbal lift. Compared to Chamirey’s Clos L’Évêque, En Sazenay is riper, darker, and more muscular, reflecting its deeper clay‑limestone soils. On the palate, it is fuller, richer, and more concentrated, showing flavors of dark cherry, blackberry, strawberry compote, liquorice, and earthy spice, supported by firm but polished tannins and a long, warming finish. The 14% alcohol is well integrated, adding weight without heaviness.
