It opens with aromas of blackberry, black cherry, violet, and warm spice, lifted by the chalk‑rich soils. Compared to Chamirey’s other Premier Crus, Clos du Roi is more structured, darker‑fruited, and more muscular, while still retaining the domaine’s hallmark finesse. On the palate, it is deep, concentrated, and finely textured, showing flavors of blackberry, cherry, plum skin, liquorice, and subtle earth, supported by fine, persistent tannins and fresh, balanced acidity. The pigeage‑only extraction keeps the wine perfumed and precise.
