It opens with aromas of blackberry, black cherry, blueberry, and black plum, layered with violet, cracked pepper, smoked herbs, and a touch of cocoa. Compared to Combier’s regular Crozes, Clos des Grives is darker, denser, and more complex, with a clear sense of place. On the palate, it is medium‑ to full‑bodied, concentrated, and finely textured, showing flavors of dark berry fruit, plum skin, black pepper, licorice, and savory spice, supported by firm, polished tannins and bright, linear acidity. The old vines and gravel‑clay soils give the wine a deep, velvety core wrapped in a granite‑mineral frame.
