Domaine Yves Cuilleron Saint Joseph 'Les Pierres Sèches' Syrah
It opens with aromas of blackberry, black cherry, raspberry, and blueberry, layered with violet, cracked black pepper, and smoked herbs—a hallmark of Cuilleron’s precise, aromatic style. On the palate, it is medium‑bodied, energetic, and beautifully balanced, showing flavors of dark berry fruit, plum skin, and savory spice, supported by fine, lightly grippy tannins and bright, refreshing acidity. Compared to Cuilleron’s Crozes‑Hermitage, this cuvée is more mineral, more vertical, and more pepper‑driven, with a clear granite signature. As it evolves, notes of olive tapenade, dried herbs, graphite, and a subtle smoky mineral thread emerge, adding depth without heaviness.
