Stanton & Killeen Alvarinho

A gold medal winning fresh, dry Portuguese white variety with fresh Lemon blossoms and tropical flavours and a vibrant acidity. Looking for suitable white wine varieties as well as tackling Rutherglen’s changing climate, Natasha Killeen (1988, 7th Gen) researched Portuguese varieties extensively and chose three to plant in Rutherglen, Arinto, Alvarinho and Antão Vaz. The first two were planted successfully in 2015 with Antão Vaz planted in September 2020 Pale white gold , Delicate peach and white nectarine aromas. Light and bright, Terrific acidity and drive on the palate. A light dusting of herbs, citrus, almond, blossoms and white stone fruits. This Alvarinho goes perfect with seafood paella, king prawns or oysters. Drink young and chilled.
