The estate is home to the world-class wine that started the Super Tuscan movement - Sassicaia.
The 1968 vintage saw the debut of Sassicaia, a courageous wine that at the time, broke away from the standard way of making Tuscan Wine. The wine is named after the stony soil which it comes from, and, by its nature, is destined to go far.
Sassicaia is the only wine from a single wine estate in Italy to have its own DOC.
With an indicative blend: Predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon with Cabernet Franc.
The Sassicaia is intense, concentrated and deep ruby-colored, this wine offers elegant, complex aromas of red fruit. In the mouth it is rich and dense, yet harmonious, with sweet, balanced tannins.
Sassicaia has a long finish with a depth and structure that ensures its extraordinary longevity.
