Watervale Gardeners 1954 Plantings Shiraz
Original gardener Francis Levi Burgess – besides being a well-known viticulturalist – enlisted in 1916 with the 3rd Australian Light Horse and survived the Battle of Beersheba
Solid purple red in colour with plum, Christmas cake spice, dark drinking choc, and a hint of star anise swirling up out of the glass. This is a lovely mouthful of juicy Cherry plum fruit Shiraz – with chewy in a good way tannins – that rolls out to a nicely balanced ‘top end of middleweight’ finish. This ‘1954 Plantings’ is a truly great all-rounder, ready to go right now, looking for an invite to a summer BBQ or winter Sunday roast lunch!
