Woodlands Brook Chardonnay 2022
The vineyard faces north west on free-draining Wilyabrup soils. The rows are a mere 2 metres from each other, providing a vine density roughly double that of the Woodlands vineyard. The soils are Wilyabrup Class 1 – with a clay loam top soil, a bed of gravel and then a bed of white clay. The existing vineyard is on a very gentle west facing slope, surrounded by south facing pastoral land. This wine is an exceptional example of the potential of our close planted Chardonnay plot at Woodlands Brook. Woodlands Brook Chardonnay is pale straw in colour. The nose strikes a first impression of flint and citrus, with white peach and honeysuckle following. As the wine opens up, more floral aromas appear together with orchard fruit notes. On the palate, a rich and generous entry leads to ripe rockmelon, white peach, and floral flavours. Some great natural acidity ties the wine together, tailing off with muscular finish. Match this wine with pan seared crispy skin barramundi and grilled asparagus, or with crumbed eggplant and gremolata.
